John NolanBoard Member and ConsultantFormer Deputy Postmaster General John Nolan has vast experience in both the government and private sectors. He currently serves as an advisor and consultant to several companies and is chairman of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Postal Museum Advisory Council. John served as Deputy Postmaster General for just over five years ending in mid-2005, a period that was arguably the U.S. Postal Service’s most challenging and successful. Throughout his U.S. Postal Service career, John was recognized as a strong supporter of management development and innovation. John started his career with the U.S. Postal Service, where he rose from a management intern to run the world’s largest post office as postmaster and general manager of the New York Post Office. From 1989 to 2000, John led the print, proxy, fulfillment and lettershop operations at Merrill Lynch. A frequent speaker at industry conferences, John serves on the board of the U. S. Postal Service, and has previously served on a number of boards and committees, including the National Postal Policy Council and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Postal Museum Coordinating Committee. John holds a BA degree from Washington & Lee University and attended the Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development. |
